Durham, NC- Barbara Griffith, M.D., has been appointed chief medical officer of Durham Regional Hospital as of May 1, 2012.
Griffith obtained her Medical Doctor degree at the University of North Carolina and has been an emergency medicine physician at Durham Regional Hospital since 2002. In addition to serving as president for Durham Regional’s Medical Staff from 2009-2010, she is currently president and a staff physician for Durham Emergency Physicians, the 23-provider medical practice that staffs Durham Regional’s Emergency Department.
As chief medical officer, Griffith will continue to promote clinical care excellence in partnership with Durham Regional’s medical staff, hospital administration, the Durham County Hospital Corporation governing board and Duke University Health System (DUHS) to assure effective and efficient delivery of high quality patient care consistent with the philosophy and mission of Durham Regional and DUHS.
Griffith is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and is a member of the North Carolina College of Emergency Physicians, American College of Emergency Physicians and American College of Healthcare Executives.
Griffith resides in Durham with her husband and two daughters.
